~Mary Poppins meets French Joie de Vivre~

I absolutely love this picture from Germaine over at CachemireetSoie.fr. Talk about romantic. Who says that rain is dull and boring, or that cold weather is depressing? Look at the joy radiating from this picture. There is magic happening here.

~A Wintery Look~

In keeping with the post below, here is another fun winter coat. This one looks a little more retro, reminiscent of elegant black and white films from the thirties. Christian Dior has dressed his lady in a luxurious creamy froth that looks perfect for an old-fashioned sledding or skating party. In fact, doesn't this lady look as if she's skating down a runway of ice? That's a nice touch. :)

~The Pleasures of a Winter Coat~

As winter approaches, we are beginning to pull out our coats and scarves in an act of self-preservation against the rigors of the cold. A common lament bewails the drabness of this season, not just because the landscape has lost its vitality, but because our wardrobe has taken on dark colors, boring shapes, and bulky silhouettes. But as the photograph above (Kennaugh) attests, just because it is winter does not mean that style and beauty need be sacrificed. Thanks to Kennaugh and other fashion lines, there are many delightful options for spicing up our winter outer-wear. Rejoice and bundle up!

~Rich and Red~

There is nothing quite like a crimson gown to set off a woman's figure. Most women look stunning in red, especially in the richer shades. Here, Drew Barrymore appears for Harper's Bazaar against a beautiful blue backdrop. Drew Barrymore is an actress who has continued to weather very well. If anything, she is more lovely now than she was 15 years ago.

~Tres chic~

I wouldn't wear everything she has on, but the overall effect is simply charming. I love the fact that she is a very self-assured single woman enjoying the cafe with no apologies for her femininity, her taste for pink, her love of fashion, or her aperitif. Thanks to Vogue for this image from their series on retro fashion in Paris.
